Michael Laderman
Flute Performer

After a successful Spring-Summer 2016 season that included performing a set of movie music as being part of a jazz/rock quartet representing Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians at the Tribeca Film Festival; performances of contemporary classical music at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space and at the Electro-Acoustic Festival at Abrons Hall at Henry Street Settlement; of a neo-Renaissance work for solo flute and chorus at a choral festival concert at St. Paul's Church in Brooklyn; several performances as part of a jazz quintet affiliated with the New York Composers Circle and Eclectix playing originals and standards at Zinc Bar in the West Village; and a number of gigs as a member of the Brooklyn Squires, my 1920s jazz/old-time folk ballads/country blues/R&B et al. duo with Alex Greenleaf; I performed an even more "out" jazz concert at the Zinc Bar with the E.C.O. Ensemble jazz quintet on September 14.

Then in December, I performed as part of a 3-piece band in 10 performances of Mira Spektor's opera, Lady of the Castle at Theater for the New City. This opera has been scheduled for an open weekend run starting the first weekend of October on Restaurant Row; more details upcoming.

This spring, I played a couple more concerts of new jazz and classical music at Zinc Bar and St. Peter's Church at Citicorp and also had the pleasure of performing Haydn's Seven Last Words of Christ at Walker Memorial Baptist Church in the Bronx on Good Friday.
