About Michael Laderman
I have had a long, very interesting career, my performance level is better than ever, and I look forward to working with you, teaching you or your friends or children, or making your life more enjoyable and meaningful with a song!
My formal training - through a Doctorate at State University of New York at Stony Brook, plus studies in Europe with Alain Marion, Philippe Pierlot, Peter-Lukas Graf and others - is all classical, and comes with a beautiful sound, a very wide dynamic range and a lot of technical facility that I worked long and hard for, so that you and I can enjoy it!
Nowadays, about half my performing is contemporary or traditional classical and about half jazz, mostly standards from the turn of the 20th century to today, plus some composed by me or my colleagues along with some R&B tunes. I've also done rock recordings and performances of Irish reels, Armenian folk songs and Iranian wedding music, among many other styles. As one of my heroes, Louis Armstrong, said: "There are two kinds of music, the good and the bad. I play the good kind."
