New York Flute Club concert: The Legacy of Samuel Baron
Sunday, October 20, 2019, 5:30 PM at Engelman Recital Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (entrance on E. 25th Street between Lexington and 3rd, south side), Manhattan. Admission free to NYFC members, $25 for non-members, $15 for students and seniors (65+) at the door.
I have the great honor and privilege of performing on this tribute concert for my great longtime teacher, Samuel Baron. I will be playing my uncle Ezra Laderman's Michael's Suite, a four-movement work for solo flute written for me, and the first movements of quartets for four flutes by Meyer Kupferman (with Katherine Fink, Svjetlana Kabalin, Sue Ann Kahn) and Friedrich Kuhlau (with Katherine Fink, Svjetlana Kabalin, and Patricia Spencer). Other performers include flutists Tara O'Connor and Bart Feller, pianist Linda Mark, oboist Marsha Heller and bassoonist Adrian Morejon. I thank my fantastic colleague, Tara and the President of the Flute Club, Nancy Toff, for asking me to participate in what figures to be a memorable event. Do show up if you can.
